Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise that there is. It does not put any strain on your joints and can be conducted in any weather conditions providing you are swimming in an indoor pool.

Bathing is an aerobic exercise which will strengthen your heart and keep you fit, combined with a healthy diet and appropriate strength training, aerobic exercise can help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight and can help in the battle against obesity or type 2 diabetes, it improves circulation, enhances lung function, and makes the heart stronger.

When I was a child we played soccer in the winter and cricket in the summer. Life was simple. In these times that we live in children have so many opportunities to try out new sports and disciplines; this has got to be a good thing, right? I'm not too sure.

For instance, as I've already explained I played soccer as a child, that was my passion, it was all I did.

For a lot of us, our lives are chaotic and jam-packed.

Our work, taking care of the kids, the endless errands, exercise, social events, and the daily stresses of life can invade our days so much that the last thing we think about is this: am I getting enough sleep, and is it the right kind of sleep I need? Its astonishing that 40% of adults do not get the sleep they need to function to their optimum potential.

We find ourselves in the midst of Olympic Games fever once again. Our top athletes are competing at the highest level and strive for top honours in their chosen fields. Most of the older will remember the rubber-soled plimsolls that were traditionally worn in PE lessons throughout most schools in Europe. These were available in any colour you liked as long as it was black or white.

We all know that we need to train and exercise more than we do. All the reports that we read tell us that we now have more leisure time on our hands than ever before but yet we all seem to be busier.

Only the same day last week I read a report saying that we had more leisure time than ever before and also that we are working longer hours than ever before, maybe we've started using a 30 hour clock? Either way we need to keep in shape.
