Time to Haul Out Your Bike?

It's spring, and the weather is beautiful in much of the country. If it's not, it probably will be soon.

Have you ever considered biking to work? Or for your errands? With gas prices climbing ever higher (they will hit $4/gallon soon in my area, the way things are going), biking is looking more and more practical for a lot of people.

    It's also great exercise.

The placebo effect is a powerful well established scientific truth. It means what we focus on, we receive. What is held in mind, manifests. Wherever attention goes, energy flows. What we resist, will persist.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to promote disease awareness, or continue the fight against disease. I don't want to be aware of, or be fighting, cancer (or any other disease).

The hardest part of getting into good shape and staying there is motivation. Our inspiration to stay in shape changes with the seasons. We have holidays to consider, cold winter days, and all of those gadgets of convenience which keep us from maintaining a daily routine or exercise. However, we really should be wise about the way inactivity affects our bodies and our health.

A health club is generally where people go to get in shape and stay healthy. Most health clubs offer a variety of classes, equipment and health-focused amenities such as massage and steam baths. Members assume their health club is focused on safety because it is focused on their health. That is not always the case, however.

In order to build a solid clientele, a health club needs to have the right combination of classes, instructors, equipment and marketing.

It is common practice for exercisers to take their heart rate after a bout of exercise. Whether running a track interval or performing an aerobics routine, this method is frequently used to monitor the intensity of exercise.

If you are part of an exercise group, common procedure is to wait until everyone has located their pulse (often 15 seconds or so) then to time six, 10 or 15 seconds while everyone counts their own heart beats.
